At the twenty-eighth session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, the Prevention Association of Social Harms (P.A.S.H.) issued a statement on the need to combat Islamophobia, read out by the representative of the Association at the scene of the Council:
Mr. President
Eextremists and radical group’s actions and behaviors self-proclaims in the name of Islam have tarnished the illuminated face of this religion. In addition to this uncivilized and anti-Islamic acts, the interpretation radical groups offer from Islam has also led some media outlining Islam as a religion of war and terror, while others by highlighting terrorist acts and ferocious explosions done by violent and illogical terrorist groups intend to relate this brutal acts to Islam and expand Islamophobia and increase antagonism towards Islam.
However, resorting to violence and assassination has no place in the religion of Islam and the patch and school of its Prophet. Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance and considers the killing of an innocent as the killing of all people in society and thus unacceptable.
Mr. President
Unfortunately, offense to the Prophet of Islam and obvious assaults to the beliefs and religious values of one and a half billion people have become a normal subject under the pretext of "freedom of expression" in some societies. This dangerous phenomenon will exacerbate the tension with the Muslim community and is a threat to the international peace and security and a threat to the peaceful relations between nations and followers of divine religions.
As a human rights organization, we condemn all acts of assassination, violence and extremism, especially if those actions are held in the name of a religion. We condemn as well the provocation of the feelings of religious followers in the name of freedom of expression, and ask international assemblies, especially the Human rights Council to not be indifferent to offensive and disrespecting acts towards religious sanctities and the assaults taking place against Muslims religious sites.
