Sixth annual session on guaranteeing the rights of religious minorities Forum on Minority Issues has been held in Palais des Nations in Geneva on 26-27 November and Prevention Association of Social Harms (P.A.S.H.)' representative has presented oral statement:
Mr President,
Today we see a large volume of anti-Shia propaganda around the world, and this is while in the 1400 year history of the Shia, their cohabitation with other religions and sects can be deemed as one of the particular emphasis of this sect. According to the clear teachings of the holy Koran, anyone who unjustly resorts to violence and illegally deprives someone of the gift of life, is like he has killed every single human being from the beginning to the end. Islam teaches us that the dignity of one human being is the same as the dignity of the whole of Mankind. The killing of innocent human beings, be they from whatever group or religion in any part of the world and on any excuse, has been deemed haram and forbidden in all monotheist religions.
Presently indifference and humiliation arrests, persecution, imprisonment, failure to investigate complaints filed by the Shia in courts and the lack of the implementation of courts decisions that are made in favour of the Shia, are some of the common approach of governments with the Shia in many countries.
Anti Shia groups, who started a huge violence campaign against the Shia Muslims, do not even spare civilian areas and individuals. Meanwhile many governments and security forces are only observers to theses attacks. Failure to confront the perpetrators of these attacks are due to both the inadequacy of the security forces and their own roles in these attacks. Neither of these does not shed any responsibility from the governments.
Mr. President,
The Shia Muslims expect effective steps to be taken towards the prevention of humaliation and slaughte of the Shia through increased monitoring roles of governments and the international community in controlling violation agains Shia. We believe nongovernmental and human rights organizations must prevent the spread of these despicable acts through reporting and information dissemination to the international community.
